Restoration of a Gangster is a story about love, unity, spiritual growth, and the dynamics of life for the Black man in the streets of Kansas City, Missouri in the 1960s-1980s and the hardship of betrayal. It is the story about growing up and being an endangered Black species in the cold hard streets of Kansas City, Missouri. I was born Andre Maurice Henry in Kansas City, Missouri on August 21, 1956, to Charles and Shirley Henry. My earlier years were spent in a little country town named Vian Oklahoma where my parents originated from. Ironically, my cousin Gary Donnell Shade was born in Vian Oklahoma, but he spent his earlier years in Kansas City, Missouri. We came up hard. Being black, we were born an endangered species, straight out of the gate.
