My story, my memoir, goes beyond a simple journey through racial identity, it includes discovering my "calling" to a life as a change agent responsible for uplifting the lives of thousands. My positive impact has come despite childhood and college experiences filled with challenges and feeling like an imposter for reasons that had far more to do with my realness than my race. This book is an inspiration that resonates with those of any race and highlights my vocation as a life-long servant leader who overcame childhood abuse to positively impact the lives of others through my work in higher education and civic leadership. The evolution of my Blackness goes beyond the social construct that is race, especially for a Gen X person growing up in a time when being multiracial was far less prevalent than it is today. My experiences and subsequent insights seek to inspire as my relationship and understanding of God's call in my life has not only transformed my own life, but that of individuals, communities and higher education institutions through my deeply personal commitment to faith, justice, and service.
